Growing more and more into their own special, unique blend of Chicago Post-Punk, and further refining their unforgettable sound born on their S/T debut, comes a 5 track EP from French Police. While some bands of this nature would choose to add (often too much) more instrumentation, and perhaps expand into something a bit too bombastic away from their roots, French Police wisely give us more of a stripped down, drum machine laden atmosphere in these tracks - lending to something almost more industrial and pained, allowing the song writing and sense of brilliant melodies to truly shine even if slathered in gloom. From the opening frosty synths of Clock Man, to the more urgent tempos found across the EP coupled with at times wonderfully frantic drum programming (check out the wicked hi-hat and fill patterns on I Forgot) and stellar guitar riffage throughout create a wonderful sense of atmosphere. Nostalgia dripped in modernized sadness, with an important and unique voice in the realms of peak era Captured Tracks songwriting. French Police tread unique ground crucial no doubt to their own experience and vision - dive into their world.

Best post-punk / coldwave that’s come out in recent memory. Emotional sincerity, recognizable and defining vocals, driving bass, dreamy guitars. A dissimilar band, yet makes me think of ‘the twilight sad’ for some reason. Identity and nuance to set this apart/above its peers. It might be the fact that my time is monopolized by the same focuses as some of the members in this band, medical field and music, but I absolutely relate and have fallen in love with this album so quickly.Beautiful! i found out about this band by accident, on instagram via postpunkonline. I have not felt this way about a vocalist since i first heard Dave Gahan in 84' Chelsey has the most distinct sound. I have to listen to this album every week. jizzandapuss
